{ there is the occasional typo, but to be fair it's very easily done on these devices. ayato has had to learn to be patient and go back and fix words all the time by now. thankfully messaging ayaka constantly near the start helped, but it will never be perfect.

it isn't even the typo that is concerning, it's the fact that thoma is potentially sick and that is a rarity in itself. he doesn't want him to be sick on his birthday tomorrow, though that is a little selfish to think about, it wouldn't be the same without him there.

whatever plans he had for the morning he had are promptly cancelled, and even if thoma isn't asking for help he will actually step out to get him soup from a local café in the hope he'll feel better soon.

it doesn't take more than twenty or so minutes before he's letting himself into thoma and rui's apartment next door with the key the kamisatos had been left with. he'll lock it behind himself, just because he isn't sure how long he'll be over and he doesn't want rui to worry either.

that done, he moves to knock gently on thoma's door once he's inside, cardboard tray with a take away cup of soup in hand. }

Thoma? { he tries to make his voice loud enough to be heard through the door, but it has a softness to it, not wanting to startle him. besides, the concern is likely evident in his voice. } I'm letting myself in.

It is yet another year, which I am certain will be filled with hardships and challenges, but we have never experienced these things without any lessons to learn. In between, we always have our share of happy moments, both together as family, and as servants of the Raiden Shogun.

I would like to celebrate today, your day of birth, as a day where I am stripped of all my obligations, except those to you. You have told me before that it is the elder brother's job to spoil his little sister, but I believe that it is the little sister's duty to ensure that her brother will always have a reason to smile, and that you will have a home to come back to. so much kindness is etched into the page, this letter pretty much encompassing why he fights as hard as he does, why he'll take the tiredness, the sorrow, the darkness, all of it so ayaka can keep being her lovely, wonderful self.

[ Ayaka does not wish to take up too much of Thoma or her brother's time today, so she is eternally grateful that they were kind enough to spare some of it for her surprise for Cloud. There's some time before Cloud shows up at Thoma's doorstep, so Ayaka isn't particularly worried that they would bump into the other.

For her own purpose here, it's just for something quick, anyway. She's made bite-sized chocolate truffle mochi and placed them in a heart-shaped boxes to give as gifts for both of them. Ayato's box has a gold ribbon around it, and Thoma's has a red ribbon. And once she's handed the boxes over to them and they've settled down some, ]
